Seamless just-in-time production in electronics manufacturing
The customized Servus solution connects semi-finished item production with the logistics zone and acts as a breathing buffer that balances cycle times and enables just-in-time production. At the heart of the system is the Servus Cube, which stores PCB racks on trays at the front check. The system identifies idle PCB racks and automatically removes them when they become available. From the side check-out, the semi-finished products are distributed to the production centers via milk run, so that each department maintains its rhythm, waste is reduced, and throughput time is optimized.
The Servus Cube has two aisles which are divided into towers and storage locations and are operated autonomously by the Servus Lifter. Moving forwards and backwards on the top rail, the Servus Lifter has direct access to all storage locations – horizontally and vertically – and ensures efficient, flexible storage and dispensing. The PCB racks on the outfeed table are ready for the milk run and are distributed to the workstations as required. The modular design of the storage locations allows for scalable adaptation to future requirements.
Empty trays are automatically returned to the storage location via a return conveyor so that they are quickly available for new PCB racks. This process saves time by reducing waiting times and idle runs, makes efficient use of space, and lowers costs. Overall, the smart Servus solution ensures a smooth material flow, reduces waste, and creates added value for production.
